Health & HIV
Mother and Child Health care is an important component of several of the projects SEVA is carrying out, in particular the projects addresses issues like Child Development & Nutrition and Reproductive Child health. Our RCH intervention targets pregnant women, lactative women and children below the age of two years to increase effective coverage & ensure quality services in maternal and new born care, immunization and integrated management of child illness. By encouraging women to plan their families, we seek to increase the chances for all the members of the family to sustain a healthy life.
Health & HIV and AIDS is one of the core focal areas of the organisation. MSS is working with various categories of population like migrants, single migrants, high risk groups, general population to prevent STI/RTI infection including HIV and AIDS. The HIV and AIDS program focus on four basic elements (a) enabling environment for HIV prevention, (b) focused Prevention through IEC, behaviour change communication (c) condom promotion and social marketing and (d) prevention & management of STI. To expand and intensify its HIV and AIDS prevention campaign in Eastern Part of Uttar Pradesh, MSS has established a grass roots network “Developing Healthy Attitude and Action towards Life (DHAAL) comprising of Non-Government Organizations working on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and Women living with HIV.
MSS also address neglected child related diseases like Japanese Encephalitis, a deadly virus that has been striking Eastern Uttar Pradesh for nearly three decades. MSS is develop sustainable community based model in Japanese Encephalitis (JE) management to reduce incidence of death and disability among children through prevention and early diagnosis of JE. Approaches like (a) behavioral changes; empowerment, community participation (b) institutional & knowledge development, (c) convergence, (d) advocacy (e) networks & linkages and (f) community based monitoring system are being promoted to address the deadly virus.
