It is estimated that around 170 million or 40 per cent of India‘s children are vulnerable to or experiencing difficult circumstances. The neglect of child protection issues results in outright violation of the rights of the children and increases their vulnerability to abuse, neglect and exploitation. MSS in collaboration with Ministry of Women and Child Development, Uttar Pradesh under ICPS scheme is operating an open shelter home ICPS objectives of catering to all children in need of care and protection like - The open shelter program caters its services to all children in need of care and protection particularly beggars, street and working children, rag pickers, small vendors, street performers, orphaned, deserted, trafficked and run-away children, children of migrant population and other vulnerable group of children. Children particularly those without home and family ties, vulnerable to abuse and exploitation at Sonauli, Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh (Indo –Nepal Border) area. The exposure and risk of these children in need care and protection is high as they are often exposed to environment which has a presence and possibilities of threats
The shelter is full-fledged residential establishment with facilities of fooding, lodging, education, sports and other behavioral education through various mediums and modes of the project is implemented under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) of the Ministry of Women and Child Development of GOI and Government of Uttar Pradesh. The main objectives of the shelter are to attract above-mentioned target group of children from their present vulnerable life situation to a safe environment and to reintegrate these children into families, alternative care and community.
